Sailplanes
Since 9 July 2019 the use of a sailplane has been subject to compliance with the requirements of Commission Regulation (EU) 2018/1976 14 December 2018.
This regulation regulates both commercial and non-commercial operation of sailplanes. In the specific case of the non-commercial operation, no authorisation or declaration of compliance is required to operate the aircraft.
On the other hand, this regulation includes the provisions on initial airworthiness, continuous airworthiness and pilot licences, so that a single regulation contains all the necessary requirements for the use of a sailplane, thus facilitating access to and understanding of the applicable requirements for the user.
