- AESA is the State body, attached to the Secretariat of State for Transport of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, which ensures that civil aviation standards are complied with throughout Spain’s aeronautical activity.
- The Agency has the missions of Supervision, Inspection and Management of Air Transport, Air Navigation and Airport Safety. It assesses the risks to transport safety and has the power to penalise violations of civil aviation rules.
- AESA works to ensure compliance with safety standards in air transport in Spain, to promote the development, establishment and implementation of national and international aviation safety and passenger safety legislation.
- In addition, we implement the safety culture in the sector and protect the rights of users and professionals, with the aim of achieving safe, effective, efficient, quality, environmentally friendly, accessible and fluid air transport.
- Our goal is to be a model institution for society, to bring safety, quality and sustainability to the national and international civil aviation system, to be a reference in safety and efficiency for Europe.
The subject matter of AESA
The Statute of the State Aviation Safety Agency develops the subject matter of EASA, and it sets out the five main axes on the basis of which the Agency’s objectives are developed.
1. To preserve the safety of air transport in accordance with the principles and rules in force in the field of civil aviation.
2. Promote the development and establishment of national and international aeronautical standards in the field of aviation safety and air transport user protection, as well as the procedures for their application.
3. Promote a safety culture in all areas of civil aviation.
4. Protect and defend the interests of society, and in particular users, by ensuring the development of safe, effective, efficient, accessible, fluid, quality and environmentally friendly air transport.
5. Develop their competences according to the needs of civil aviation, in terms of quality, effectiveness, efficiency and competitiveness.
