What is AESA?

- AESA is the State body, attached to the Secretariat of State for Transport of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, which ensures that civil aviation standards are complied with throughout Spain’s aeronautical activity.

The Agency has the missions of Supervision, Inspection and Management of Air Transport, Air Navigation and Airport Safety. It assesses the risks to transport safety and has the power to penalise violations of civil aviation rules.

AESA works to ensure compliance with safety standards in air transport in Spain, to promote the development, establishment and implementation of national and international aviation safety and passenger safety legislation.

In addition, we implement the safety culture in the sector and protect the rights of users and professionals, with the aim of achieving safe, effective, efficient, quality, environmentally friendly, accessible and fluid air transport.

Our goal is to be a model institution for society, to bring safety, quality and sustainability to the national and international civil aviation system, to be a reference in safety and efficiency for Europe.
