Frequently asked questions

  • Prior to carrying out the ATPL skill test, the applicant must meet and certify the prerequisites and experience as laid down in Regulation (EU) 1178/2011 in the relevant aircraft category and hold the corresponding ATPL certificate of prior requirements and experience issued by COPAC or AESA
  • The examiner with whom it intends to carry out the ATPL skill test must be expressly authorised to do so, by means of an authorisation letter issued by AESA at the request of the examiner. 
  • The ATPL skill test shall be carried out under valid EASA means.

It is not necessary to make the application, a partial request can be submitted pending the list of instructors. Further information can be found in section 2.3 of the guide “Minimum requirements for a training organisation AVSAF(OFA)”

You can download the MOD4, which contains the list of documents to be attached to that request. It can be sent by post to the address of AESA, only if the person concerned is a natural person and does not have an electronic certificate. Yes, it is possible provided that the requirements to be eligible for the instructor course are met and in addition there is a minimum experience of 180 hours as trainer in Operational Safety in the airport field. AVSAF Instructors Requirement

The instructor must teach and tutor the courses assigned to him within the OFA and sign the diplomas of completion of the courses for his students. For further information please refer to the document “Definition of the AVSAF Safety Training Model”

Since the past of July 9, 2019, to operate a glider has to comply with the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2018/1976 of the commission of 14 December 2018.

  • Air operations are sailplanes are listed in Annex II (Part-SAO).
  • To conduct commercial operations with sailplanes, it is necessary to submit a declaration of compliance that enables such operations to be carried out. This requires compliance with the provisions of Article 3 of the Regulation and with the ODS requirement.DEC.100 of Annex II (Part-SAO).
  • Glider trawl activity has 2 slopes:
  1. 1.  Whether the purpose is to carry out air advertising flights, i.e. towing of banners with powered sailplanes; it is considered as a specialised commercial operation, so the provisions of ODS.OP.155 must be complied with.
  2. 2.  If the purpose is towing sailplanes only, this is a normal commercial activity.

For both activities, in addition, where the operations are carried out below the heights provided for in requirement SERA.5005(f) of Commission Regulation (EU) 923/2012, they shall be required to obtain an authorisation in accordance with:

  • Article 3 of Royal Decree 1180/2018 for flights below the minimum heights on agglomerations of persons. In this case it must be established that the transaction is in the general interest.
  • Article 33 of Royal Decree 1180/2018 for flights below minimum heights outside agglomerations of persons.

To become an AVSAF instructor it is necessary to take the AVSAF instructor course taught by AESA (or validate it) and pass the corresponding exam. For more information see the AVSAF instructor requirement document.

The rest of the formats you will find: responsible statement (F-DAU-AAT-01 and F-DAU-AAT-02) and memory model (F-DAU-AAT-03) are voluntary, but their use is recommended.
