Madrid, 3 February 2022 (AESA)

The Spanish company Alter Technology has become the first body in Europe to carry out conformity assessments for UAS class marking operating in an open category, once it has been published in the European Commission’s NANDO (New Approach Notified and Designated Organisations) information system.

The State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) notified the European Commission that Alter Technology had obtained accreditation by the National Accreditation Entity (ENAC) after demonstrating its technical competence in accordance with UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17065. Following the stage of public submissions, the European Commission has validated the notification of the Spanish company under the NANDO-Input application, being the first to be part of the notified bodies in Europe for drone/UAS class marking.

The European drone/UAS regulations (Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/945) require certain classes of UAS (C1, C2 and C3) to have a higher safety guarantee before being placed on the market, and therefore have to be evaluated in advance by conformity assessment bodies. Alter Tenchology is the first to obtain this recognition in Europe, and can already provide its services to manufacturers across the EU.
