AESA issues the first UAS Light Operator Certificate (LUC) to the Spanish operator and owner of BCN Drone Center, CATUAV. This certificate allows the execution of operations not only in Spain but in the rest of the Member States, European Regulation 2019/947 on UAS.

The issuance of this LUC has been possible due to the great professionalism, commitment and involvement of both the CATUAV team and the staff of the AESA UAS Division.

Through the LUC and according to the degree of maturity of the operator and its safety management system, AESA can recognise important privileges to the UAS operator, including the possibility of assessing the risks of its operation and authorising its operations, thus reducing formalities and allowing operations to be carried out immediately.

The issuance of LUCs is an important piece in the development, professionalisation and expansion of the sector.
