I have two or more ratings currently noted as SET LAND or SET SEA but I have only completed the FI/CRI instructor course for one of the models, can I practise in the others?

To practice in the rest of the variants covered by the SET rating, you will need to check that you meet the requirements set out in the FCL.915 b).

How long will my SET LAND and/or SET SEA examiner certificate be valid?

The validity date of your SET LAND and/or SET SEA examiner certificate will be the same as the one currently on your certificate.

What powers do I have as an examiner?

As stated in regulation point FCL.1000(a), examiners shall exercise privileges in those variants in which they are able to instruct; taking into account familiarisation training and differences in applicable cases.

I am a SET LAND and/or SET SEA examiner, can I examine any pilot with the SET LAND and/or SET SEA rating?

It is the responsibility of the examiner to check in which variants the student or pilot is qualified and, accordingly, to conduct the test in those variants in which the examiner is an instructor; i.e. examiners may only act as an instructor in those variants for which they are an instructor.

I am an examiner for one or more of the models included in the "Endorsement List", can I extend the periods of validity on the revalidation certificate?

It should be noted that until existing licences are updated with the new SET LAND and/or SET SEA nomenclature, the revalidation certificates submitted by examinees will continue to show the original ratings.

Similarly, you may not yet have your examiner's licence and certificate updated to the new nomenclature.

Therefore, and given that the examiner privileges are maintained, regardless of whether the examiner certificate and/or the certificate of revalidations are updated with the new nomenclature or maintain the old nomenclature, the extension of the examinee's period of validity may be noted, provided that the provisions of FCL.740.A(a) are complied with.
 

I am an examiner for one or more of the models included in the Endorsement List, do I have to perform a proficiency check for each variant?

By being annotated as a single rating, either SET LAND or SET SEA, the examiner is extending the validity period of all variants contained therein when revalidating the rating.

Whether or not the pilot may exercise them in such variants shall be verified by the person concerned by verifying that he/she complies with the requirements set out in FCL.710.
 

I am an examiner for several of the models affected by the update of the EASA Endorsement List, do I have to undergo training and a proficiency assessment for each variant in order to become an examiner for each of them?

No, the examiner privileges appropriate to the type of certificate may continue to be exercised in the variants covered by the rating endorsement on their examiner certificate, provided that in order to act as an examiner it is necessary to be able to instruct and be qualified to act as PIC for the relevant variant.

I am an examiner in the qualification that prior to 13/02/2025 had LAND and SEA variants, do I have to undergo training and a competency assessment to have the new SET LAND and/or SET SEA qualification nomenclatures noted on my examiner's certificate in order to be able to practice as an examiner in each of them?

No, whether specifically requested by the applicant or if the certificate is updated at revalidation or renewal, the new SET LAND and/or SET SEA nomenclatures shall be noted on the examiner certificate if one or both ratings are reflected on the licence with privileges to instruct in them.

I have a SET SEA or SET LAND notation on my licence and I want to extend it to another variant, what should I do?

You will need to complete the appropriate familiarisation or differences course and record it in your logbook.
