The new rating course must be taken at an approved ATO; From 13 February 2025 SET LAND and SET SEA are no longer variants of the same rating, but are now separate ratings with separate courses given at an ATO.

If, once the variant has been registered, you wish to practice in another variant, you must take the appropriate differences or familiarisation course and record this in the logbook.

As stated in regulation point FCL.1000(a), examiners shall exercise privileges in those variants in which they are able to instruct; taking into account familiarisation training and differences in applicable cases.

It is the responsibility of the examiner to check in which variants the student or pilot is qualified and, accordingly, to conduct the test in those variants in which the examiner is an instructor; i.e. examiners may only act as an instructor in those variants for which they are an instructor.
