- This tool is presented as a more agile, fast and intuitive option, both for the user and for the Agency, in addition to being totally digital and free.

- The start-up will be done gradually to ensure the efficient transition to the new digital environment, with Passenger Cabin Crew (TCP) being the first group that will be able to use this new procedure.

- Among the novelties offered by this milestone, the digital management of all applications, the notifications derived from the processing and the option to act as a representative directly from the application stand out.

Madrid, 1 October 2024 (EASA)

The Spanish Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) has launched a new digital application for the management of licenses and certificates for aeronautical professionals in Spain. This has meant the complete digitalization of the procedure for the management of licenses and certificates, a transformation that has been a milestone for the Agency by reducing administrative procedures and offering multiple benefits for both the user and EASA.

Through the new application, it will be possible to carry out procedures for the initial issuance of certificates, reissue of the same, update of personal data or the digital certificate, or the renunciation of the certificate itself.

Also, in order to ensure an efficient functioning of the new tool, the transition to the new procedure will be done gradually by groups of professionals. The group of Passenger Cabin Crew (TCP) will be the first to be able to make use of this new option to request and manage their procedures from the AESA Electronic Headquarters.

After them, and in a staggered way, the new application will also be available for the processing, in the first place, of the licenses of the aeronautical maintenance technicians (TMA) and, on the other hand, of the pilot licenses. For this group, it will first be available to ultralight pilots, gliders or balloons, and later, it will be extended to helicopter and airplane pilot licenses, making it possible to process both private and commercial pilots.

Benefits of the new application

The implementation of this new application strengthens AESA's commitment to the continuous improvement of its services as a public body. The new procedure offers, as a main advantage, a digital environment to carry out all the procedures related to the application and management of licenses in a more intuitive and fast way for the managed one.

In this way, the user can carry out any procedure from the Electronic Office without having to use the official sending by registration for any request. In addition, through the new platform, you can provide all the necessary documentation for each procedure, as well as the requirements and conditions to act as a representative of another person.

Likewise, the administrator will also have an overview of the process of processing his file by being able to consult his status online.

On the other hand, for AESA, this new way supposes a greater efficiency in the entire procedure of processing the files, since certain processes and direct notifications to the user are automated. In the same way, it is allowed to have a flexibility for the processing of an application by multiple managers.

Committed to the industry

In the constant relationship between AESA and the industry, the Agency is organizing informative conferences with the different professional groups in the sector to explain first-hand the operation and main changes offered by this new tool.

On September 26, those responsible for the Passenger Cabin Crew (TCP) area brought together schools and training organizations in this field to present the new application through a practical case and resolve any doubts that may arise.

During the coming months, as this new procedure is applied, the industry will be convened to present and share the advantages of this change.

In the same way, the Agency has made available to users a guide material and a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) to facilitate the use of the new tool, as well as the update of the information on the website and Electronic Headquarters to adapt it to this procedure.
