About ReFuel EU

EU Regulation 2023/2405, also known as the "ReFuelEU Aviation" initiative is aimed at ensuring a level playing field for sustainable transport and aims to increase the use of sustainable fuels in aircraft in order to reduce their environmental footprint.

The proposal is part of the "Target 55" legislative package, which aims to reduce EU greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels.

This regulation also establishes requirements for aviation fuel suppliers to gradually increase the proportion of blended PFS in conventional aviation fuel supplied at EU airports. In addition to their effects on climate change, conventional aviation fuels also have a negative impact on air quality. Increased use of sustainable aviation fuels can contribute to improving air quality.

Successful implementation of the ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation requires the collaboration of all parties in the supply chain, in particular suppliers of aviation fuel, EU airports and airlines. More than 95% of air transport departing from EU airports will be covered by this new regulation.
