Director of Aircraft Safety

Marta Lestau Sáenz

Aeronautical Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (ETSIA), Master in Leadership and Public Function from Menéndez Pelayo International University and Private Aircraft Pilot. She is the Director of Aircraft Safety at AESA since June 2012 and, previously, was the Director of Civil Aviation Safety and User Protection since 2008 also at AESA. He is currently a member of the EASA Management Board and EASA Committee, as well as the Air Safety Committee of the European Commission. She has represented Spain as an aviation expert in various international forums, such as the European Union, ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation), EUROCONTROL, EASA (Agency of the European Aviation Safety Union) or CEAC (European Civil Aviation Conference). It has also participated in international technical cooperation projects, supporting other civil aviation authorities, such as those in Morocco, Armenia or Ukraine. Previously, she worked in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation as Head of the Area of Studies and Standards, and in the private sphere, as a consultant in the field of transport.
