A aquellos solicitantes que completen la formación básica a en una organización aprobada de la Parte 147 conforme a la misma normativa (anterior o posterior al Reglamento (UE) 2023/989) y luego aprueben los exámenes en otra organización aprobada de la Parte 147 conforme a la misma normativa (anterior o posterior al Reglamento (UE) 2023/989), se les otorgará la consideración de curso básico completo y, por lo tanto, la reducción del requisito de experiencia básica será máximo, quedando finalmente en 1 o 2 años. 

La combinación de los Certificados de Reconocimiento (solo formación básica completa + examen de los módulos) será suficiente para que la autoridad competente reconozca que el curso de formación básica ha sido "completado" con éxito al cumplir con todos los requisitos de un curso básico.

Para aquellos casos en los que hayan cursado TODAS las horas de formación teórica y formación práctica de un curso básico (incluyendo las prácticas en entorno real) de acuerdo con la normativa anterior al Reglamento (UE) 2023/989, y se examinen de algunos módulos en exámenes por libre bajo el Reglamento (UE) 2023/989 en otras organizaciones Parte 147 o en la Autoridad, se considerará formación relevante.

Relevant training serves to reduce the basic experience requirement to obtain a Part 66 LMA license.

Relevant training shall be considered:

  • Higher-grade vocational training courses in the following specialties:
    • Superior Technician in Aeromechanical Maintenance (for B1).
    • Superior Aviation Maintenance Technician (for B2).
       
  • Higher grade training courses in maintenance of the following specialties:
    • Aeromechanical turbine engine aircraft (for B1.1).
    • Aeromechanical of piston-engine aircraft (for B1.2).
    • Aeromechanical turbine engine helicopters (for B1.3).
    • Aeromechanical of piston-engine helicopters (for B1.4).
    • Electronic and avionic systems in aircraft (for B2).
       
  • Training corresponding to a basic training course in a subcategory of B1 other than that requested in an organisation Part 147.
     
  • For those cases where they have completed ALL hours of theoretical and practical training of a basic course (including internships in real environment) in accordance with the regulations prior to Regulation (EU) 2023/989, and some modules are examined in free examinations under Regulation (EU) 2023/989 in other Part 147 organisations or in the Authority.

However, the consideration of relevant training does not exempt from passing the examinations corresponding to the basic training modules of Part 66 of the category or subcategory of the licence that is intended to be obtained.

Operational aircraft experience means the following:

  • That obtained in the performance of maintenance tasks on aircraft being operated by aircraft operators, air taxi organisations, owners, etc.
  • The experience should comprise a broad spectrum of tasks in complexity, quantity and variety and have to be performed in a Part-145 or Part-CAO environment.
  • For L licences, it is acceptable for maintenance experience to be gained only during weekends and public holidays, provided that the level corresponding to the category/subcategory being sought is attained.

LMA maintenance technician licence management (Part 66)

LIC-P66-P01-F02 Record of basic experience. You must complete at least one form for each subcategory you are applying for. Such registration shall be issued and signed by the maintenance organisation at the request of the licence applicant within a reasonable period of time.

With the aim of supporting applicants in their training and in obtaining the L-category Aircraft Maintenance Technician (TMA) licenses, AESA puts at your disposal a selection of guiding questions corresponding to the different theoretical modules. 

These documents have been developed in collaboration with the Real Aeroclub de España (RACE) and are designed as a reinforcement tool to facilitate the preparation of exams. It is supporting material and is aligned with the contents required in the theoretical examination of the L-category license.

Electronic examinations will be carried out in those institutes that teach higher-level training cycles in aeronautical maintenance that request it from AESA, once AESA considers that it is feasible by facilities and by number of examinees.

In order to speed up the processing of the application, there is the possibility of submitting a telematic application through the catalogue of procedures and services of the EASA Electronic Headquarters under the name "LMA Part-66 Maintenance Technician Licence Management", in the section "Licences and Aeronautical Medicine":

They are valid. The only difference is that the certificate of recognition on which they appear corresponds to the EASA 148 format, while the basic examinations approved as of 12 June 2024 will appear in an EASA 148a format if they have been carried out in a Part 147 organisation, or in an EASA 148b format (if they have been carried out with the Authority).
