New AESA aeronautical easement exemption for Vigo

The State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) has issued an exemption for the municipality of Vigo that allows avoiding, in certain areas and under specific conditions, the request for the prior agreement of the Agency to execute constructions, facilities or plantations.

Aeronautical easements (SSAA) in Spain delimit the protection zone around airports, helipads and radio installations in order to ensure the safety of air operations.

In the case of Vigo, the technical study concluded that certain actions within the municipality do not compromise the safety of air operations or the operation of radio installations. This exemption does not imply a reduction in safety requirements, but a more efficient application of the rules.

General exemption requirements

The exemption, published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) is applicable in the areas delimited as exempt and provided that the conditions set out in the resolution are respected.

Among them, it is established that the maximum height may not exceed 45 meters above the ground or surrounding water, including all added elements. Installations which, by their nature, may pose a risk to aviation safety, such as foci of attraction of fauna, installations that generate smoke or dust or those likely to produce glare, are excluded from this exemption.

This measure is part of the Aeronautical Servitude Exemption Plan promoted by AESA, whose objective is to speed up administrative procedures in municipalities located under SSAA, contribute to improving coordination between administrations and reduce administrative burdens, both for local entities and for the Agency.

The exemption is a direct benefit for citizens, by eliminating procedures in cases where there is no condition to aviation safety. This action is part of the Aeronautical Servitude Exemption Plan promoted by AESA, with which the Agency works proactively to streamline procedures and reduce administrative burdens.
