Madrid, 27 January 2022 (AESA)

Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/469 of 14 February 2020 on requirements for air traffic management and air navigation services, airspace structure design, data quality and runway safety enters into force today, complementing and updating Regulation 2017/373 by defining requirements for new air navigation services and incorporating relevant amendments to ICAO references, among other developments.

In particular, this regulation incorporates into the European framework Annex 11 (ATS) and certain provisions of the PANS-ATM and Annex 15 (AIS) and PANS-AIM of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

It also includes quality assurance requirements for aeronautical data, for ATM/ANS providers, airport managers and aeronautical data originators.

Another important aspect of this new regulation, which entails the repeal of Regulation (EU) 73/2010, is that it defines a new certification framework for flight procedure design (FPD) providers, as well as standardisation of the design of airspace structures.
