The Coordination Committee of the State Operational Safety Programme (PESO) met on an extraordinary basis to discuss a joint strategy between the various public administrations to control the increase in poultry in the surroundings of Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport and to avoid an increase in the risk of aviation safety.

At the meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA), the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, the Civil Aviation Accidents and Incident Investigation Commission, the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (Miteco), the General Staff of the Air Force, as well as representatives of the Autonomous Communities of Madrid and Castilla y León, the municipalities of Madrid, Alcobendas and Colmenar Viejo and the Commonwealth of Municipalities of the Northwest were present.

The objective of this extraordinary committee was to transfer to attendees the identification of the collision with birds as a priority area of risk for civil aviation safety at state level and a roadmap was agreed which includes the creation of a technical working group for the joint identification of measures to control this risk. These measures may be incorporated into the Operational Safety Action Plan (OSAP) to make them binding on the parties concerned.
