Madrid, 24 January 2022 (AESA)

The Italian airline ALITALIA ceased operations on 15 October 2021, the Spanish Air Safety Agency (AESA) reminds all passengers who have been affected by the cancellation of their flights at Spanish airports who can claim their rights under European Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 on delays, cancellations and denials of boarding.

Despite the announced cessation of operations, passengers’ rights must also be satisfied by the airline or, failing that, the insolvency administrator.

Therefore, passengers who have been affected by these cancellations will have to first contact the company or, failing that, the insolvency administrator to manage the refund of the ticket and the corresponding claims of their rights. Up-to -date information can be found here.

If your requests are not met by the company, you may complain to the Competent Authority. In the case of Spain, passengers who have been affected on flights from Spain, after complaining to the carrier or if they have not received a response from the carrier, may complain to AESA: Procedure for Complaints

If the flight departs from another European country you can consult here the Competent Authority to which to claim.
