Madrid, 9 February 2022 (AESA)

The State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) today, together with other companies, entities and institutions of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, signed the protocol of the STEAM Alliance for Women’s Talent: “Girls standing in Science”, from the Ministry of Education.

The director of AESA, Isabel Maestre, has been at the signing of this protocol of intent at an event held in the Ministry of Transport and in which all the entities of the Gruop Mitma that have joined this commitment, -AESA, Ineco, Adif, Aena, Enaire and Ports of the State — have been present to encourage the participation of girls and young people in the training in STEAM disciplines, linked to science, technology, engineering and mathematics, in connection with the arts and the humanities.

The STEAM Alliance aims to increase the participation of girls and young people in these disciplines, and it is therefore necessary to promote action and join efforts among the different social partners to achieve this objective.

AESA is committed to joining efforts and strengthening synergies between administrations, businesses, civil society, educational and training centres and the media with STEAM projects for the promotion of these vocations among girls and young people. It is a commitment to female talent that promotes empowerment at an early age in education and contributes to closing the gender gap in access to these disciplines.

The Alliance, which this Friday 11 February commemorates Women’s and Girls’ Day in Science, includes, among other activities, the creation of a quality seal for educational and training centres, the call for STEAM projects and the development of a Vocational Guidance Programme focused on STEAM vocations, with a gender perspective.

There are currently more than a hundred entities that have joined this initiative.
