The State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) has been awarded the Aeronautical Merit Plate during the celebration of the III Nit de l’Aviació, an event organized by the Mallorquina Aeronautical Foundation (FAM).
This award is a recognition of the work of all the professionals who make up the Agency. Montserrat Mestres, Director of AESA, picked up this distinction at Bellver Castle in Palma, highlighting in her words the work of all the Agency’s human capital, without which “AESA would not be able to do its job to ensure safe and efficient aviation”,as she pointed out.

In addition, he wanted to highlight the role of the Office of Flight Safety (OSV) in Palma, “ourinspectors, unknown to the general public, who play a fundamental role in the aviation of our country. And particularly here in Mallorca, the OSV of Palma, which does a great deal of work on these islands.
During her speech, the director of AESA, who attended the event accompanied by Marta Lestau, director of Aircraft Safety of the Agency, and David Nieto, director of Airports and Civil Aviation Safety of AESA, also pointed out the work carried out by the Agency to promote technical standards in the development of hydroaviation. “Hydroaviation can represent a sustainable and efficient mobility alternative, a fundamental milestone to make the most of the more than 6,000 kilometres of coastline of our country, in addition to the two archipelagos”.
Together with the Agency, the FAM granted this recognition to Bettina Kadner, the first woman commander of a passenger plane in Spain that became a reference for many women and a milestone for gender equality in the sector, and to ENAIRE, represented by its general director, Enrique Maurer. In addition, the event was attended by José Antonio Santano, Secretary of State for Transport, and other state and regional authorities.
Events like this are of utmost importance to make visible the work of the different professionals who work in the sector. As Montserrat Mestres pointed out in her speech, “Itis important to emphasise dialogue between all the actors involved in order to continue advancing and designing the future of this sector”.
