AESA organizes its day on sustainability for the aviation sector

On January 29, 2026, the first meeting of the year will take place at our headquarters in the Assembly Hall of the State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA). An information day to discuss the EU Aviation ReFuel Regulation and the main milestones in the aviation Emissions Trading System (EU ETS).

The main objective of this event is to share with all the agents involved the main developments related to the European Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and the ReFuel Regulation, with special attention to those aspects that allow ensuring compliance with the reporting obligations that apply at the end of February and March, respectively.

Specifically, the day will address, in the case of the  EU ETS Scheme, the latest developments linked to the complaint and subsequent publicity associated with access to free emission allowances derived from the use of sustainable aviation fuels, as well as specific aspects of the first reporting period on the non-CO2 effects of aviation.

On the other hand, in the field of  ReFuel, the day will include specific sessions on the recent tools and support manuals developed by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and the requirements that will be required from AESA.

The presentations will have the participation of the competent authorities linked to both regulations, as well as the participation of EASA.
