Florian Guillermet, EASA Executive Director, visits AESA to strengthen cooperation and knowledge sharing in European aviation

• The visit shared AESA’s challenges and priorities for 2026-2027 and fostered dialogue between EASA and AESA professionals.

The State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) received Florian Guillermet, Executive Director of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), at its headquarters today in an institutional visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two organizations and continuing to promote a strong, safe and prepared European aeronautical system to face future challenges.

Montserrat Mestres, Director of AESA, welcomed the European delegation, in a visit that was an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between EASA and the Spanish authority. Ongoing cooperation between the two authorities is essential to ensure a harmonised application of European legislation and to make coordinated progress on aviation safety.

During the day, the AESA management team presented to the EASA delegation the main projects and strategic objectives for 2027. In addition, the European authority has been able to respond to questions and issues of interest raised by AESA professionals.

This meeting highlighted the importance of maintaining spaces for dialogue and exchange with EASA and highlighted the collaboration between the two agencies to continue advancing in aviation safety.

For his part, Florian Guillermet has highlighted the role of Spain as one of the most relevant and committed actors within the European aviation system, highlighting the active contribution of AESA to the work, programmes and common objectives of the European aviation safety network.

The visit has made it possible to strengthen the institutional and technical exchange between EASA and AESA and to make progress in identifying areas of common interest for both organisations.

The EASA Executive Director was accompanied by Maria Rueda, Safety Management, Sustainability and Global Outreach Director; Jeremie Teahan, Chief Institutional Relations Officer; and Patrick Hadou, Senior Military Advisor to the Executive Director.
