The Spanish Aviation Safety Agency (AESA), in collaboration with the Spanish Aerospace Technology Platform (PAE), organises on 23 April the event ‘Towards the automation of UAS operations’, an information day in hybrid format for the presentation of advances in means of compliance by AESA and the presentation of the White Paper on UAS Automation by the PAE, on the occasion of its recent publication.

The day will focus on exploring automation and artificial intelligence in the future of UAS, both nationally and internationally. Key regulatory aspects impacting these operations and means of compliance for highly automated scenarios will be addressed. In addition, future challenges to obtain operational authorizations with higher levels of automation will be analyzed.

The conference will also highlight the transversal nature of automation, analyzing the current state of technology, regulation, social acceptance and the impact of these innovations in the UAS sector. All these aspects are included in the White Paper on Automation of the EAP, providing a comprehensive vision on the future of automation in this field, which will be published through its website, and will be accessible free of charge.

After the reception of attendees, the Director of Aircraft Safety of AESA, Marta Lestau will welcome the event. The presentations will be made by the organizers of the event. The first will be the presentation of the progress of means of compliance by the Head of the UAS Division Roberto Gándara Ossel, and the staff of the DUAS; followed by the presentation of the White Paper on Automation of the PAE by Antidio Viguria Jiménez of CATEC. Subsequently, a round table will be held in which key players in the sector, including industry participants, technology centres and the competent authority, will discuss the main challenges and opportunities in automation and artificial intelligence of UAS. Finally, the day will conclude with a closing of the Secretary General of the PAE, Andrés Catalán.

The conference will be held in hybrid format, both in person in the Assembly Hall of AESA in Paseo de la Castellana 112, (access by Calle Joaquín Costa, 1) 28046 Madrid, and online. It is therefore important that the user completes the registration form.
